Gladstone

Gladstone is a city in Queensland, Australia. It is approximately 5 hour drive North of Brisbane. 2 hours North of Hervey Bay, Gladstone is home to Queensland's largest multi-commodity shipping port. and all weather marina and loads of family adventures.

Gladstone, together has an estimated urban population of 45,130 approx.

Flinders during his 1801–1803 circumnavigation of Australia, became the first recorded European to sight the harbour in August 1802.

Development of Gladstone was slow until 1893 when a meatworks was established at Parsons Point.

Gladstone is a good all weather Port to stop at if sailing North to Airlie Beach, most repairs can be made at Gladstone or equipment shipped to Gladstone.

If visiting by car there are rivers lakes and a coast to explore. National Parks and many wheelchair friendly activities in the regions

Pancake Creek is the last good anchorage before Gladstone if arriving by boat from the South.

Where to stay is always a good question, We stayed a couple of nights at the Reef Hotel to escape the boat and have a break. A good comfy hotel.
