Where To Buy a Yacht

Where to Buy a Yacht is a question I am often asked. I have travelled around Australia, New Zealand and some states of the United States of America looking for my perfect Yacht for our next adventure.

The last three boats I have purchased have been in Australia. I have travelled from the Huon Valley in Tasmania to the Top End, Darwin on the West Coast and Cairns on the East Coast, I even visited Gove on one occasion.

My beautiful Cheoy Lee offshore 39 foot Sloop was found in the Gold Coast back in 1997 and my most recent purchase was found right here in Perth.

This was after I spent 8 months in 1 and 2 day trips travelling around East coast cities and coastal town looking at a LOT, I mean a LOT of yachts. We found our Kestaloo 41 Foot Ketch Tin Tin at the Royal Perth Yacht Club.

Buy from Oversea or in Australia

Where to Buy a Yacht, this is a really big and serious question. When you consider Buying a yacht from the USA or Europe and sailing to Australia you need to know this is going to require at least 12 months of you life.

Six months finding, Buying, refitting and surviving this intense period, and lets not forget this will be in the off sailing season "winter" so that you are prepped to sail home in the preferred summer season.

Local or interstate
